A one-page daily site report format supervisors will actually fill
A daily site report format records, for one site and one day, the work done against plan, labour on site, materials received and needed, issues or delays, and photos. Keep it to one page so a supervisor can finish it in ten minutes before leaving. Send it to the project manager every evening so problems reach the office the same day.

When to use it
Every working day, on every active site, including days when little happens. A day with no progress and a reason is useful data. A missing report is not.
On larger fit-outs, the same format becomes a daily progress report format for construction, with more trades and a quantity column per BOQ item.
Field-by-field explanation
- Work done: what, where and how much. Use BOQ item names so progress can be compared with the plan.
- Planned for tomorrow: it forces the supervisor to think a day ahead and spot missing materials.
- Labour: headcount by trade. Over a week this shows whether the site is staffed to finish on time.
- Materials received: with challan numbers, so purchase orders can be closed.
- Materials needed: with a date. This is the material request to the office.
- Issues: name who must act, such as the client, the designer or a vendor.

Sample requests.
Site safety checklist for interior work
- Power tools have guards, and cables are not lying in water.
- Ladders and scaffolds are stable. Nobody works at height alone.
- Masks for sanding and cutting, and eye protection for drilling.
- Fire extinguisher on site, and no smoking near paint or adhesives.
- Material stacked so it cannot fall, and the corridor kept clear for residents.
- First-aid kit stocked and a contact list displayed.
Common mistakes
- Reports sent as a long voice note. Nobody can search it later.
- Photos without a caption or location.
- Writing work in progress instead of what was finished and how much.
- Material needs mentioned only on a call, then forgotten.
Setting it up in Google Sheets or Forms
- Build a Google Form with the sections above, and a photo upload question.
- Link it to a sheet, so each submission becomes one row with a timestamp.
- Filter the sheet by project to see the full history of a site.
- Add a second form for material requests that goes to whoever handles purchase.
Site reports in the D&B Operating System
The D&B Operating System lets supervisors see today's tasks for their site and post photo updates from the phone browser. Material requests go to the office, labour and attendance are recorded, and issues are flagged to the project manager. The office sees updates straight away, with nothing to install. It is in early access from BRANDSWOT Consultancy.
Questions people ask
What should a daily site report format include?
It should include the project and date, work done today with quantities, work planned for tomorrow, labour by trade, materials received and needed, issues or delays with who must act, safety notes and photos. Keep it to one page so supervisors fill it every day.
What is a daily progress report format for construction?
It is a daily record of progress on site, usually against BOQ items, with quantity done today and to date, labour, equipment, materials, weather, issues and photos. Larger projects add hindrances and instructions received. It helps the PM compare actual progress with the schedule. Keep the format the same across all sites so reports can be compared.
How is a daily progress report format for interiors different?
Interior sites have many small trades working in one flat, so the report lists each room and trade, such as carpentry, ceiling, painting and electrical. It also tracks client decisions that hold work, like shade or hardware selection, because those cause most interior delays. Note each pending decision with a date.
What is a material request form for a construction site?
It is a short form the site sends to the office to ask for material. It lists request number, item and specification, quantity, unit, date needed, which work it is for, and who approved it. It stops last-minute phone calls and duplicate orders. Number each request so the PO can refer to it.
What should a site safety checklist for interiors include?
Check power tools and cables, ladders and work at height, masks and eye protection, fire extinguisher and no smoking near paints, safe material stacking, clear corridors and a stocked first-aid kit. Review it at the start of each week. Note any incident or near miss in the daily report the same evening, so the cause is fixed quickly.
