A clear modular kitchen quotation format
A modular kitchen quotation format splits the kitchen into base units, wall units and tall units, then prices carcass, shutters, hardware, accessories and countertop as separate lines. Clients compare kitchens on these parts, so showing them openly builds trust. Use the template below with the kitchen measurement form so every module size comes from the site, not a guess.

The kitchen quotation template
Price carcass and shutters separately. A client who wants to downgrade shutters to save money can then do it without a full re-quote.

When to use this format
Use it whenever the kitchen is quoted on its own, or as a separate sheet attached to a full-home quotation. Wardrobes follow the same logic: carcass, shutter type, internal fittings and hardware, priced per unit or per square foot of front area.
Send it only after the site measurement. Kitchens fail on site when module widths were picked before the plumbing point, window and gas line were located.
Field-by-field explanation
- Module: what the unit is and what it holds. Sink, hob, drawers, corner, tall pantry, appliance housing.
- Carcass: board type and thickness, and the inside liner. Base units near the sink need moisture-resistant board.
- Shutter / finish: laminate, acrylic, PU, membrane or glass, plus handle type.
- Size: width, height and depth in millimetres, as the factory will cut it.
- Hardware: hinges, channels, lift-up fittings and their brand or grade. Hardware drives both price and life.
- Countertop: material, running feet, edge profile, cut-outs and backsplash.
- Exclusions: chimney, hob, sink, tap, appliances, electrical and plumbing changes, tiling.
Kitchen measurement form and wardrobe measurement sheet
Take these on the first proper site visit and attach them to the quote.
| Measure | Kitchen | Wardrobe |
|---|---|---|
| Wall lengths | Each wall, floor to ceiling, at 2 heights | Wall width at floor and at top |
| Openings | Window sill height and width, door swing | Door, window and AC position |
| Services | Sink inlet and outlet, gas point, power points, exhaust | Switchboards, skirting depth |
| Obstacles | Beams, columns, pipes, slopes | Beams, loft height, ceiling level |
| Heights | Floor to ceiling, floor level differences | Floor to ceiling, loft bottom |
Modular kitchen installation checklist
- Plumbing and electrical points match the approved layout before installation day.
- Tiling and floor finish done, and the floor checked for level.
- Carcasses fixed level and plumb, joined and anchored to the wall.
- Shutters aligned with even gaps, hinges and channels adjusted.
- Countertop cut-outs match the sink and hob models delivered.
- Silicone sealing at sink and backsplash, then a water test under the sink.
Common mistakes
- One price per running foot with no split. The client cannot see what changes the price.
- Not stating whether the sink unit carcass is moisture-resistant.
- Leaving appliance sizes unconfirmed, then finding the oven or dishwasher will not fit.
- No drawing attached. A quote without a layout is only a promise.
Build it in Excel or Google Sheets
- Make one row per module and columns for carcass, shutter, size, unit, quantity and amount.
- Keep a rate tab with rates per square foot for each carcass and shutter type.
- Calculate each module from width × height of the front, times the shutter rate, plus the carcass rate.
- Add hardware, countertop and accessories as their own rows, then a GST row and the total.
How the D&B Operating System helps
The D&B Operating System stores site measurements and photos on the project and builds quotes from your rate cards, with versions the client can approve. A cheaper shutter option becomes a new version, not a new spreadsheet. It is built by BRANDSWOT Consultancy and is in early access.
Questions people ask
What should a modular kitchen quotation format include?
It should list every module with its carcass board, shutter finish, size and quantity, then hardware, countertop, accessories, design or installation charges, GST, exclusions and payment terms. Attach the layout drawing and the measurement form. A split between carcass and shutter helps clients see where their money goes.
What is a carcass and shutter quotation format?
It prices the box of each unit, the carcass, separately from its front, the shutter. The carcass line states board type, thickness and liner. The shutter line states finish such as laminate, acrylic or PU, and handle type. Clients can then upgrade or downgrade shutters without changing the carcass price.
What should a kitchen measurement form record?
Record each wall length at two heights, floor to ceiling height, window and door positions, sink inlet and outlet, gas point, power points, exhaust position, beams, columns and pipes. Add photos of each wall. These decide module widths, so measure before you quote. Note the date and who measured.
How do I make a wardrobe measurement sheet?
Note the wall width at floor and top, floor to ceiling height, loft position, skirting depth, switchboards, AC and window positions, and the door swing in the room. Mark whether the client wants sliding or hinged shutters, because sliding shutters need more depth. Add photos of each wall.
What is on a modular kitchen installation checklist?
Check that plumbing and electrical points match the layout, tiling is done, carcasses are level and anchored, shutters have even gaps, countertop cut-outs fit the delivered sink and hob, and sealing is complete. Finish with a water test under the sink and a client walkthrough.
